Yorktown University is organized according to a 48 week academic year and is divided into three 16 week semesters.
Yorktown University students can choose to enroll in an open-enrollment program of Independent Study (at the student's convenience) or follow a plan of regularly scheduled terms.
Independent Study students choosing the option of independent study are expected to complete all course content within eight weeks. During that term, students have access to a qualified instructor and complete weekly assignments and participate in weekly discussions with faculty interaction.
Students may start a course at any time, but their access to a course is limited to eight weeks.
The Independent Study option allows students to complete all course content on a schedule other than the Scheduled Terms in which Yorktown University's academic year is organized.
Yorktown University students following a plan of regularly scheduled terms begin each course at the start of each sixteen week semester and are expected to complete one course every sixteen weeks. Before the beginning of each semester the University will publish a list of courses and programs of study that will be offered that semester.
